Surgical technologists prepare operating rooms, arrange equipment and help doctors during a range of surgical procedures. They also may be responsible for ensuring aseptic conditions in the operating room, as well as cleaning and preparing all instruments that might be needed in an operation.

This program prepares you for a career as a professional member of a surgical team. 学生s are involved in lecture and discussion classes as well as clinical learning experiences

The degree program is ideal for those interested in entering the field of surgical technology and who are looking for an accredited program to gain certification.

This is the only program of its kind in the Capital Region. It is only one of four similar programs in the SUNY system.

This program is offered through the Nursing and 外科手术技术 Department.

学生 and National Board Examination Data

As required by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied 健康教育项目, the program reports on student enrollment,and employment information as well as the results of graduates taking the National Board Examination.

Once a student has passed the Certification of 外科手术技术 Exam through National Board of 外科手术技术 & 外科辅助（NBSTSA）, they will obtain the proper credentials of a Certified 外科手术技术.

学生临床工作政策

While students are completing clinical rotations, their time spent at the facility will be educational in nature. 学生s will not receive any monetary compensation during this educational experience, nor will the students be substituted for hired staff personnel within the clinical institution in the capacity of the surgical technologist.
